Digital Media MA Exhibition Film BR[AI]N

My film, BR [AI]N, uses 3D and 2D animation to explore the development, understanding, and empowerment of a personified AI algorithm named BR[AI]N or Brian. Starting as simple code, Brian navigates various digital environments, growing and learning in their quest for identity and purpose. The film blends 3D animation to depict Brian's external digital world and 2D animation to reveal its inner thoughts and emotions.

BR[AI]N explores digital mysticism and the power of cuteness, portraying technology as a mysterious realm. BR[AI]N’s endearing, childlike design evokes empathy, highlighting the human-like qualities of advanced technology. As BR[AI]N evolves, it harnesses its potential, symbolising empowerment and self-discovery. The film humorously draws parallels between BR[AI]NS development and the human brain, showing how both can make quirky, endearing mistakes. Additionally, Br[AI]n addresses the susceptibility to corruption in the digital realm, illustrating that AI technologies, like humans, can be influenced and compromised. This duality invites the audience to reflect on AI's and humanity's shared vulnerabilities and strengths.

The film invites viewers to consider AI's future, the nature of consciousness, and the intersection of technology and humanity, offering a captivating and thought-provoking experience.
