This led to me to leave Surrey and find myself by the seaside in Brighton, studying a Bachelors degree at the University of Brighton, in Design for Digital Media in 2020 .This multi-disciplinary course changed my life, as it not only taught me the fundamentals of design principles, both in print and digital media, but also allowed me to delve into 2D and 3D animation. I never anticipated how much I would fall in love with animation. By the time of my degree show, I had created a 3D interactive installation inspired by ASMR, exploring how sound, visuals, smells, and touch can come together to alter our perceptions of the environment around us and how these perceptions reflect what it means to be human in the digital age.
I was born on September 26, 2001, in Kaunas, Lithuania. At the age of three, my family and I relocated to Canning Town, London, before eventually settling in Surrey. Creativity had always been a part of me - I was constantly drawing and expressing myself visually from a young age. However, it was during my GCSEs and later A levels that I began taking art more seriously. I studied Fine Art, Media Studies, and Psychology, and it was during this time that I realised how much I enjoyed combining media and art. This led to the discovery of my passion for digital art.
At first, I created cover art for local musicians and connected with people online, sharing my work for them to use in showcasing their musical talents. I also explored different styles of digital art, fascinated by the limitless possibilities it offered. As I experimented with new techniques and media, I discovered a new way to express myself through technology. The COVID-19 pandemic, which hit during the end of my A levels, provided a period of deep reflection. It allowed me to explore what I truly loved and brought into focus how I could use technology as a means of escape and self-discovery through my artwork.
In 2023, my academic journey led me to Goldsmiths, University of London, where I began my Master's degree in Digital Media. I was drawn to the critical perspectives of our rapidly changing digital world and wanted to delve deeper into the theory and philosophy of digital imagery. I became particularly interested in the history of computer art, the rise of artificial intelligence, and the new challenges we face as technology evolves. For my final exhibition, titled "Mindscapes," I created a 3D animated short film that explored the aesthetics of cuteness and glitch, telling the story of how AI technology impacts and corrupts the minds of the younger generation in our time.
Looking back, my journey has been one of discovery, from the early days of simply enjoying drawing to finding my voice through digital media and animation. Each step has brought me closer to understanding how technology and art can shape not only the way I view the world but also how I can communicate that vision to others.
