Laura I. Art Gallery hosted I Am An Arktivist on November 30, 2024, at the Barking Learning Centre in London. This event merged art, environmental activism, and community engagement to inspire action and dialogue on pressing environmental issues.
The Noah’s Ark Project (September 2022):
This project ignited environmental awareness and community cohesion through weekly litter-picking and painting workshops. Together, participants transformed plastic bottles into a large-scale ark sculpture, symbolizing collective action.
I AM AN ARKTIVIST built upon this foundation, introducing Noah the Planet as a mascot to connect past efforts with the new initiative. The event encouraged attendees to engage with art and environmental care while reflecting on the historical significance of Barking’s river heritage.
Key Goals:
Challenges:
I developed a comprehensive 6-week social media strategy to boost engagement across the various social media platforms used by Laura's I. Art Gallery. These included TikTok, Instagram and Youtube.
Firstly, reintroducing Noah and The Planet, along with the Noah’s Ark project, through targeted posts aimed at both current and new audiences. This strategy helped spark interest and drive engagement, paving the way for the upcoming 'I AM AN ARKTIVIST' event.
Leading up to the event, we not only focused on promoting the event itself but also developed a series of short stories featuring Noah the Planet and their interaction with the environment. These stories were designed to educate and inform audiences about the importance of recycling and sustainable practices. This narrative approach helped engage the audience while reinforcing our message of sustainability in a more relatable and impactful way.
